Webinar: Word Choices Emote

This lunch-hour chat with Dr. Danni Green and Vicky Lyle will “go off the reservation” to explore phrases from the “peanut gallery” that can result in some of us “spazzing” when we hear them. The origins and sentiments of many word choices can challenge even the most enlightened. Too many, such comments are simply a colloquial saying. Yet to others, they are highly offensive. The “rule of thumb” is that language may cozy-up to a “tipping point” yet should not go overboard. The goal of this session is to bravely awaken us to what and how we speak for the purpose of fostering education and awareness bringing us closer together rather than further apart. The only prerequisite is that each of us extend grace through the enlightenment process.

Dannellia Gladden-Green or Dr. Danni as she is referenced, is a seasoned executive in both the corporate and entrepreneurial arenas. With more than 20 years in senior corporate leadership across the semiconductor, consumer products and healthcare industries, Dr. Danni has lead international teams, developed manufacturing processes, designed products, exceeded revenue projections, and accelerated diversity initiatives. As the founder of SAGEsse Consulting LLC, she leverages her broad subject matter expertise and that of a small team of unicorns to address the growth aspirations of their clients as well as coaching select executives on cultural inclusion. 

Additionally, Dr. Danni serves as the Executive Director of the Women's Business Center of Richmond, Virginia. The WBC Richmond is partially funded by the U.S. SBA and supports the entrepreneurial interests of underserved women and minorities by providing technical assistance in the quest for economic justice through asset attainment. The RVA-based radio broadcast "Winning with W.O.W." is hosted by Dr. Danni and features B.O.S.S. CEOs, Fire Creatives and Cash Connectors. Most recently, she assumed the role of an Adjunct Arts & Sciences Professor at the historic Virginia Union University.

Dr. Danni gives back though volunteer and civic organizations serving on select national and local boards. She is most appreciative of the life she has with her childhood sweetheart and husband of 30+ years, Minister Kelvin L. Green, Sr. Together they have four adult children. She is firmly planted on the belief that "with God all things are possible".

Vicky Lyle

Vicky is the Vice President of Industry Associations at Owens & Minor, where she leads the Company’s involvement with industry and trade organizations worldwide. She currently serves on the executive board for Professional Women in Healthcare (PWH) as the Chair for the 2021 and 2022 term. She also serves on the board of Healthcare Supplier Diversity Alliance (HSDA) and serves on the Council of Supplier Diversity for Health Industry Distributors Association (HIDA). Vicky has been with Owens & Minor for 30 years, contributing business and technical expertise across all facets of the supply chain.

Most recently, she served as Operating Vice President, Service Line Strategy, where she was responsible for the development of the inventory solutions platform along with service line operations, implementation and support.

In her time with the Company, she has led several strategic cross-functional projects, including business acquisitions, distribution center strategy, and the creation of Owens & Minor’s Third Party Logistics (3PL) service offering.

Vicky holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Averett University, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude.
