Mentor Circle: What Makes a Good Leader

Written by Professional Women in Healthcare | 01/13/2023

PWH Mentor Circles are a group mentoring program that enables professionals of all levels to come together to discuss and share knowledge on a topic. PWH Mentor Circles are made up of one Circle Leader and 10-15 Circle Members. The Circle Leader ensures the participation of all those members who would like to contribute to each conversation.  PWH Mentor Circles meet two times a month over three months to discuss the chosen topic and may evolve into a longer conversation over time.

We have all heard that emotional intelligence is one of the strongest predictors of effective leadership. The pandemic amplified the need to not only manage our own emotions but also recognize and influence the emotions of those we lead in a time of overwhelming uncertainty. Leaders have been doing more with fewer resources and dealing with burnout and quiet quitting while meeting higher expectations from organizations.

It doesn’t need to be lonely at the top! This Mentor Circle will help leaders manage the hidden stress of emotional labor, discuss the skills needed to be a good leader, and share actionable ideas to prevent burnout for themselves and their employees.
